Sydney S. Leung’s clients encompass a wide range of industries, including high tech startup companies, marketing and communications service providers, high-end retailers, real estate investors and developers, restaurants, artists, film producers, and distinguished individuals across the globe.
He joined the firm of Carroll Burdick and McDonough in San Francisco in 1999, and represented emerging growth companies, a major German automotive manufacturer, and insurance companies. In 2001, he started his own Law practice to provide more efficient and personalized services to his clients. With his legal expertise, business background, and international experience, Mr. Leung advises his clients on legal matters, as well as providing business solutions and a vast network of investors, professionals and resources worldwide.
In addition to global representation of Mitra Creative, Mr. Leung is currently collaborating with several important film and music producers and artists in Hong Kong and Taiwan in the development of specific projects and supporting all related contract needs. He has represented clients in multi-million dollar real estate transactions including a $250 million acquisition of a Las Vegas Strip Hotel and Casino, a $137 million acquisition of a Maui hotel and golf course, and a $96 million acquisition of a Honolulu hotel. Mr. Leung also represents a major executive in an internationally-renowned software company as a personal attorney; he has most recently advised the executive on his participation in a small cap, year one hedge fund (with review of related documentation) and on joining the Board of Directors of a venture capital-funded company, and he continues to advise the executive on all issues in his real estate portfolio.
Mr. Leung graduated from University of California, Hastings College of the Law, cum laude, in 1999, earning the honors of Order of the Coif, Thurston Society, and Who’s Who Among American Law Students. He was also selected to participate in the International Student Exchange Program of the Rijks Universiteit Leiden in the Netherlands. Mr. Leung is admitted to the State Bar of California, and is awaiting admission to the New York State Bar.
Prior to law school, Mr. Leung earned his Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, in Philosophy from San José State University in San José, California, and his A.E., cum laude, in Architectural Engineering from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Asian-American Bar Association, and the Bar Association of San Francisco. He is fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin and written Chinese, and is conversational in German. He is also a licensed real estate broker in California.
