Dr. Darnel Degand, Ed.D.

Dr. Darnel Degand, Ed.D., is an experienced multimedia designer and developer. A sampling of the varied projects in his portfolio include the design of numerous 2D and 3D graphics for use in instructional design tools, presentations, interactive multimedia, online advertisements, websites, advertisements and other print pieces. Dr. Degand’s professional background includes work as a Creative Director for Berlin Productions, Inc., where he designed and developed sales tools for Sensis Corporation’s web-based Airport Automation Tool, “Aerobahn.” While at Berlin Productions, he also worked on a number of assignments for the company’s major brand clients, including Snapple and Mountain Dew. Dr. Degand also worked as a Creative Director for AMC Computer Corp.’s Knowledge Management division.

Dr. Degand has developed curricula and led classes for corporate clients, nonprofit organizations and college level students in a wide variety of graphics and Microsoft Office applications. His experience encompasses classes taught at the Carnegie Corporation of New York, New York Computer Action Now, Pelham Fritz Center, Queensborough Community College, and the Vaughn College of Aeronautics. He has also worked with New York University’s Advanced Educational Systems Lab on the development of a CD-ROM used to educate breast cancer patients on self-care after surgery. He has also worked with the Institute for the Schools of the Future in the development of several educational multimedia products, including “Science on Patrol,” a tool for teaching forensics science. Recently, he illustrated two children’s stories for a book series and on-line educational site entitled “Coomacka Island.”

Dr. Degand is currently a senior Multimedia Developer for DG FastChannel (Mediamind/Unicast), the world’s leading ad management and distribution platform, connecting over 12,000 global advertisers and 5,000 agencies with their targeted audiences through an expansive network of over 40,000 media destinations across broadcast and digital in 75 countries, managing approximately ten percent of the world’s media assets. He was previously a senior Developer for Sesame Workshop.

He received his Doctoral degree in 2013 from Teachers College, Columbia University, in Instructional Design and Technology. He completed a Master of Science degree in Digital Imaging and Design from New York University’s Center for Advanced Digital Applications, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics from the University of Pennsylvania.
